Needle bearings are roller bearings with thin, in comparison with the diameter of long cylindrical rolling elements, so-called needle rollers. Despite their low cross-sectional height, they have a high load-bearing capacity and are therefore particularly suitable for bearings with limited available space in the radial direction. Needle bearings contain rolling elements, which are 3 - 10 times longer than their diameter and therefore have a relatively high radial load-bearing capacity. The cages and rolling elements have optimized rolling element profile for a long lifespan – even with large loads or operating conditions with poor visibility.

The range of SKF needle bearing products is very extensive and essentially consists of the following products:
Drawn cup needle roller and cage assemblies, drawn cup needle roller bearings with ribs and without ribs, sealed needle roller bearings with and without inner ring, adjusting needle roller bearings with and without inner ring, inner rings for needle roller bearings, combined needle roller bearings, needle angular contact ball bearings, needle roller/axial ball bearings, needle roller/axial cylindrical roller bearings and axial needle roller bearings.

APPLICATION AREAS:

Used in automotive applications such as compressors, drive trains and torque converters where the front surfaces of adjacent machine parts can be used as raceways, cam drive shafts, compressors, drive trains etc. Needle bearings are also used in agricultural machines and the food industry.
